When should I not have a massage?
It is important to seek advice from your GP if you have
a medical condition prior to seeing a massage therapist.
There are a number of conditions where massage is not recommended
or requires medical clearance, such as:
- After trauma when the body’s initial response
to injury is bleeding and inflammation. If the trauma
is localised then massage of surrounding tissue may
be beneficial but massage of trauma site will only aggravate
the injury. Massage after swelling has subsided is usually
very helpful and aids in the healing process.
- After major surgery you should seek your doctors
approval prior to having massage.
- It is advisable to tell the therapist about an injury
or recent surgery prior to booking an appointment. At
Double Bay Massage, we happy to discuss any medical
concerns or queries ahead of your booking.
